Why Spaces make music sound bad

Spaces are built for voice. The X web client asks Chrome for echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain on your mic. It can run its own noise-reduction model on top, and it sends 32 kbps mono speech audio that cuts out between sentences. Sustained notes, bass and stereo width get treated as noise. Virtual cables and hardware mixers don’t help, because the sound still goes through that same voice path.

SpaceMix runs inside the X tab. It mixes your mic, tabs, files and instruments itself, and sends that mix instead: stereo Opus in its music mode, at 128 kbps, with nothing gated. Your music never passes through X’s voice processing.

Music Mode

Your mic, instrument or mixer comes in with echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain off, in stereo. Voice Mode keeps them on for talking through speakers.

Tabs and instruments

Send YouTube, SoundCloud or any other Chrome tab, or an audio interface, to a mixer line with one click. Every channel has its own meter, fader and monitor.

Mix Station PRO

Local files, whole folders and internet radio, with crossfades and track titles, right inside the X tab. Your playlist follows your account to other computers.

Talk over the music

The music ducks while you talk, then comes back. Hold-to-talk, shortcuts and a leave-page warning while you’re live.

Soundboard and voice FX

Twelve built-in pads: air horn, applause, drum roll and more. Pro adds your own pad sounds and voice effects like Robot, Deep and Radio.

Private by design

Audio is mixed in your browser and goes only to X. It never passes through SpaceMix’s servers.
